The PEACH programme

What is the PEACH programme?

Paediatric Eating and Activity Change for Health (PEACH) is a family-based lifestyle change programme. The programme aims to support children and young people who are living at a higher body weight to make changes to their lifestyle through fun, interactive sessions and an app. We work together to set goals focusing on making small sustainable changes to help us choose healthy foods, increase physical activity levels and reduce screen time. This may lead to a range of positive outcomes such as reduced body mass index, improved mood, increased self-confidence and better sleep.

How do I know if PEACH is suitable for me?

Before taking part in the programme, if the child is under the age of 16, parents or guardians are invited to an assessment appointment with a specialist dietitian to discuss the programme in more detail and check if it is suitable for the young person. Young people aged 16-18 will be invited to the assessment and a family member can attend with them, if they wish.

How do I attend the programme?

PEACH is made up of eight weekly sessions with a dietitian or dietetic assistant practitioner. Each session will be delivered virtually by video call in either a group or individually- whichever format works best for your family.

What will I learn about during the programme?

During the programme we cover a range of topics including:
